This course covers all the basics for those wanting to prepare espresso based beverages: either starting your career as a barista or mastering your professional equipment at home.
The course covers machine components, ideal extractions, milk techniques, pouring common coffees up to two at a time, and basic machine care. The hands-on course is two 90 minute sessions at our Mt Eden Roastery.

This tutorial is for those looking to advance their espresso preparation skills to a professional standard.
This is a one hour coaching session and emphasizes extractions, milk texture, and beverage presentation. A barista ‘obstacle course’ with time limits is used to measure performance and improvement.

This course provides an overview of how espresso machines work, and best preventative maintenance practices.
This is a 75 minute overview of how an espresso machine operates and how to ensure both the ongoing quality of the espresso it produces and the longevity of the asset. The course focuses on best practices and how to avoid common causes of equipment failure. Topics covered are water quality, grinder care, and espresso machine cleaning and maintenance.

This presentation is an informative overview of coffee from crop to cup and ends with a cupping of several single origins.
This 2 hour presentation explores coffee growing regions, varietals, and different preparation methods at origin, and their impact on final flavour. The discussion shares our knowledge as specialty coffee importers and provides an open opportunity for questions and answers. A comparative cupping of several single origins is included.

Power: 32 amp, single phase, three pin socket, (prefer HPM) within 1 meter of the machine. Please allow additional power sockets for other equipment like grinders.
Water: 15mm FEMALE mains pressure, COLD connection within 1 meter of the machine. A pressure regulating valve and water filter will be installed with the machine. Please ensure space is allowed for these.
Waste: prefer plumbed waste directly below machine. It is possible to run the waste to a large receptacle but it is less desirable.
